Managed Layer 2 Ethernet Switch uses 8xBASE-TX LAN, 2xBASE-X SFP, RS232 Console, Rugged IP66/67 Design, MIL-STD 810
The Ruggedcom-M969 enables the construction of fail-safe IT networks in harsh environments as a rugged managed Layer 2 Ethernet switch, and can be used via eight 10/100 BASE-TX for CAT 5/6 LAN cables and optical dual BASE-X as an interface between local RJ45 networks and remote nodes via fiber optics.
As a passive Layer 2 Ethernet switch, the Ruggedcom-M969 facilitates the implementation of stable, branched network architectures with numerous participants and does not require complex configuration via web interfaces. The switch is compatible with all common protocols and supports standards such as Telnet, HTTP, IGMPv2, SNMPv3, RADIUS, and automatic IP address assignment as a client via an external DHCP server. For maximum security in critical environments, the Ruggedcom-M969 offers secure encryption through standards including SSL or RSA.
The Ruggedcom-M969 has a short latency time of 4 microseconds at a transmission rate of 7.6 Gbit/s and is therefore also suitable for industrial IT infrastructures and real-time communication, for example with RTOS embedded devices. For branched structures and client assignment, the Layer 2 Ethernet switch uses a 64 Kb MAC address table that stores up to 8192 different participants. Partitioning is possible into up to 255 VLANs. The physical I/O includes eight 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet LAN ports, dual 100/1000 BASE-X fiber optic ports, power supply, RS232 via console ports, and a 2A SPDT contact relay.
The robust design of the Ruggedcom-M969 includes full sealing against water jets and temporary submersion in accordance with the international IP66/67 standard, including M12 screw-type connectors. Additionally, the Ethernet switch is certified according to the military standard MIL-STD 810, which applies not only to vibration and shock but also to EMI impulses, tolerance to electrical and magnetic influences, and power supply. Thanks to its numerous LAN and WAN interfaces, the Ruggedcom-M969 enables multiple redundant topologies in networks, including tree, ring, or star architectures. The Ethernet switch is generally suitable for reliable IT structures in industrial and technical environments that are sometimes exposed to extremely adverse conditions. These include, for example, process management in SCADA and IoT applications, site networking, and public telecommunications.
