As an industrial Layer 3 19'' rackmount switch in 1U format, the RS628-DC enables the construction of complex IT infrastructures in data centers or server rooms and serves as a powerful IT gateway between 10/100/1000TX RJ45 Ethernet LAN and 100/1000FX SFP Gigabit fiber ports to realize redundant architectures in distributed networks.


To ensure high performance and maximum bandwidth, the RS628-DC uses store and forward technology for forwarding internal packets between the various ports. As a high-performance processor, the industrial Layer 3 switch utilizes a 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU in combination with 2 GB DDR3 RAM to guarantee real-time packet processing. Thanks to its high performance, the RS628-DC achieves a total bandwidth of 41.67 MPPS or nearly 1.5 million packets per port. The rackmount switch also supports the transfer of large amounts of data via compatibility with jumbo frames up to 9216 bytes in size.


The Layer 3 switch RS628-DC features 20 RJ45 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interfaces for CAT 5/6 LAN cables and combines these with four 100M/1G SFP ports for transmission via fiber optic networks and four additional Gigabit combo ports. These can be flexibly used for either RJ45 copper cables or fiber connections via SFP, giving the RS628-DC Ethernet switch maximum flexibility when building redundant structures between local and remotely located networks. Configuration can be performed via a graphical web interface, command line interface (CLI), or other standards such as Telnet, SNMP, and SMTP, or via a USB port, which also allows for convenient firmware updates.


To ensure maximum reliability and IT security, the RS628-DC supports IGMP snooping filters and active traffic management including Quality of Service (QoS), storm control, or prioritization of ports via Class of Service (CoS). Fail-safe operation is ensured by a wide temperature tolerance from -40° Celsius to +70° Celsius and an average runtime of 445,000 hours MTBF. The rackmount Layer 3 RS628-DC Ethernet switch is ideal for industrial and commercial environments such as smart production, data processing in IT data centers, telecommunications, or IoT applications.
