L2 switch EDS-408A-SS-SC by MOXA is an improved modification of a basic series of 8-port switches. The device houses 2 ports of 100 Base FX type that have a modern SC slot and are provided for data transmission over large distances using single-mode optical fiber. The device allows not only integrating terminal devices and intermediate servers into industrial Fast Ethernet networks, but also managing them. Network switch EDS-408A-SS-SC: description and features: The abilities of a single-mode optical communication substantially surpass those of multi-mode communication. The attenuation does not exceed 0.25 dB per 1 km, there is minimum dispersion, whereas the bandwidth allows quick transfer of large data packets with no distortion. From its ancestor the device has inherited the best features. The series is characterized by ultimate reliability that is confirmed by maximum assured mean time between failures (MBF) of 126 years. The switch complies with IPv6 international standard requirements and supports all main protocols. VLAN and GVRP allow ignoring physical limitations; three versions of SNPM support the convenient and safe management function; QoS sets the priorities. All necessary software protection functions are provided: restricted bandwidth, port mirroring for status diagnostics and a discrete output relay channel for failure notifications. The unique patented Turbo Ring methods for signal redundancy secure fast response and provide more freedom when designing and reconfiguring. The structure units are hidden under a metal chassis. There is a dual power input, protection against shocks, vibrations and electricity. The affordable price of EDS-408A-SS-SC and availability of fiber optic ports make this model a perfect solution for such tasks as, for instance, consolidation of wind power stations that are located far from each other.
