Switch EDS-G308 is a powerful industrial switch with an opportunity of incorporation into high speed networks of any complexity. In contrast to its ancestors, the letter "G" in the device name explains that all 8 communication ports are the full-featured Gigabit combo-ports that correspond to 10/100/1000 Base TX standard. Such versatility provides industrial engineers with limitless capabilities for integration of intermediate servers and terminal devices that require maximum signal speed even when located far away from each other. EDS-G308 switch: description and features: Gigabit communication imposes strict requirements regarding network protocols. The switch supports all necessary standards for a high-speed signal: IEEE 802.3x — for a full-featured full-duplex communication, 802.3ab — for signal transfer over a twisted pair of the 5th category, 802.3z — for optical fiber communication at large distances (SX, LX, LHX, ZX). The powerful parallel Gigabit signal over 8 ports can cause peak traffic load, so called broadcast storms. To avoid it, there has been a special function for protection against overloads developed, that can be activated using a switch. In case of power failure or connection disruption on a definite port, there is a discrete output relay channel built into EDS-G308 that will inform an engineer about the problem immediately. Additionally, there is a user-friendly system of signal indicators. The switch with a bunch of devices connected to it shall not depend on a single power supply source only. Hence, there is a parallel circuit and an opportunity for connection of a backup accumulator. The aluminum chassis of the high IP30 grade is rather compact in size (54х135х105) and offers several mounting options, i.e. wall and desktop mount. If compared to the basic model, the mean time between failures has been increased up to 37 years. Hence, EDS-G308 by MOXA is a great choice at a reasonable price, in case you require maximum speed and bandwidth with management functions not so critical. Thanks to a number of certificates, you can safely operate the device in contaminated and high temperature production environment, in marine industry (DNV, GL, LR, ABS, NK), in explosion hazardous conditions of oil and gas recovery industry (UL/cUL Class I, ATEX Zone 2).
