ICOP Technology has introduced the QEC-PPC-M-090T-S, a compact programmable HMI Panel PC for machine builders and system integrators. The system combines a 9-inch touchscreen, an embedded x86 controller, dual Ethernet connectivity, onboard storage and the 86Duino development environment in a single device. Linux is also supported for projects that require a conventional operating system environment.
In compact machines, an HMI may need to handle more than visualization and operator input. Local application logic, device communication, parameter setting, alarm handling and data exchange with higher-level systems can all be part of the same application. The QEC-PPC-M-090T-S provides the hardware and software environment required to implement these functions on one compact platform.
HMI and Control Functions in One Device
The QEC-PPC-M-090T-S is designed for applications where a conventional operator panel does not provide sufficient programming flexibility. With the 86Duino IDE, developers can implement the user interface, application logic, communication and local data processing in C/C++ and deploy the application directly to the device.
For projects that require a standard operating system environment, the platform also supports Linux. This gives developers an alternative software environment for application-specific integration without changing the underlying HMI hardware.

9" Touch HMI for Machine Operation
The 9-inch TFT display provides a resolution of 1024 × 600 pixels and uses a resistive touchscreen. It can be used for machine operation, status monitoring, parameter setting, alarm display and maintenance functions.
The front panel is rated to IP65, supporting installation in machine panels and control cabinets where the operator-facing side requires protection against dust and water. The compact format is suitable for small machines, test equipment, training systems and customized automation equipment.
Dual Ethernet for Separate Communication Paths
The QEC-PPC-M-090T-S provides one Gigabit Ethernet port and one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port. The two physical interfaces can be assigned to different communication paths within a machine architecture.

This configuration allows machine-side communication and connections to higher-level systems to use separate physical Ethernet interfaces. It does not, by itself, imply network redundancy or additional network isolation functions.
Development with 86Duino and Communication Libraries
The 86Duino IDE is an Arduino-style development environment for x86-based systems. Applications are developed in C/C++ and executed directly on the QEC-PPC-M-090T-S. HMI functions, application logic, communication and local data processing can therefore be implemented within the same development environment.
ICOP provides an Ethernet Library designed for the system's Gigabit LAN and LAN configuration. The 86Duino software ecosystem also includes libraries and development functions for several communication tasks:
- Ethernet for general network communication
- Modbus TCP for communication with PLCs, controllers and field devices
- MQTT for transferring machine data to IoT and higher-level applications
- Web Server for browser-based status pages and local dashboards

The OPC UA capability is described as development support rather than as an integrated OPC UA server or client.
HMI Development with LVGL and 86HMI Editor
For graphical user interface development, the QEC-PPC-M-090T-S supports LVGL, an embedded graphics library for interactive touchscreen interfaces.
ICOP also provides the 86HMI Editor. The graphical development tool allows engineers to create HMI screens and generate the associated application code. This can reduce repetitive manual interface programming when screen layouts need to be created or modified during development, customization and testing.
Hardware for Industrial Installations
The QEC-PPC-M-090T-S is based on the DM&P Vortex86EX2 processor running at 533 MHz. It includes 512 MB of onboard DDR3 memory, 32 MB SPI Flash and 2 GB SLC eMMC storage. An optional 16 GB eMMC configuration is available for applications that require additional capacity for HMI graphics, logs, configuration files or application data.
The system accepts a +12 to +50 VDC power input, with +24 VDC specified as the typical supply voltage, and has a power consumption of 9.6 W. Additional interfaces include three USB 2.0 ports, a USB Type-C port for programming and debugging, and HD Audio Line-out.
The front panel is rated to IP65. ICOP also specifies CE, UKCA, FCC and VCCI certifications as well as shock and vibration testing. The standard operating temperature range is 0 °C to +60 °C, with an optional extended range from −20 °C to +70 °C.
