ICOP Technology has announced the iBPC-N8MP, a compact industrial box PC built to run machine learning workloads directly at the edge. The system is scheduled for official release in Q3 2026 and targets applications that need on-device AI processing within a small mechanical footprint. It is based on the NXP i.MX8M Plus platform and combines an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with an industrial-grade, fanless enclosure.

Overview

The iBPC-N8MP is designed as an edge AI engine for vertical markets that require local inference close to the data source, such as intelligent transportation and medical systems. The iBPC-N8MP is powered by the NXP i.MX8M Plus quad-core Cortex-A53 processor running at 1.6 GHz. Its integrated NPU delivers 2.3 TOP/s of dedicated compute for machine learning tasks, which offloads inference workloads from the CPU and keeps AI processing on the device rather than in the cloud. The platform is paired with up to 8 GB of onboard LPDDR4 memory.

Storage is flexible: onboard eMMC of up to 128 GB, a Micro SD slot, an internal Mini-PCIe slot and an optional M.2 M-key 2242 slot. On the display side, the system drives an independent output through HDMI at up to 4K resolution and DisplayPort, with an optional Dual-Channel 24-bit LVDS interface for panel integration.

The I/O layout is built for data acquisition and equipment integration in industrial settings. Connectivity includes dual Gigabit Ethernet LANs, dual CAN bus interfaces, up to 4 COM ports (shared with the CAN buses) and a 13-bit GPIO. Additional interfaces cover 2× USB 3.0, 2× USB 2.0, audio, and WiFi/Bluetooth.

The unit uses a ruggedized, fanless enclosure rated for 24/7 continuous operation, with a wide-temperature option covering −20 °C to +70 °C for demanding environments. For security, the iBPC-N8MP supports an optional onboard TPM (Trusted Platform Module) as a hardware root of trust for protecting device and telemetry data. On the software side, ICOP provides verified evaluation images for Yocto Linux and Android together with technical documentation to shorten development and field deployment.
