The SCB111-485-NB-DC is a Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) gateway for M2M communication with peripheral devices via RS485 serial COM and the Modbus protocol. It features a rugged, weatherproof design certified to IP68, specifically developed for outdoor deployment and for linking endpoints over 4G LTE to internal networks or cloud servers.
For maximum flexibility and broad compatibility with devices such as sensors or programmable controllers, the SCB111-485-NB-DC IoT gateway supports Modbus/TCP over RTU serial at 1200 to 9600 bps via RS485 A and B on two conductors. Available data‐transfer protocols include text‐based messaging distributed via MQTT or JSON. With optional AES-128 encryption, the SCB111-485-NB-DC is also suitable for critical environments and for transmitting sensitive data over public networks.
As its external interface, the SCB111-485-NB-DC uses a single PG9 cable gland accommodating a 7-core cable of 4 mm to 8 mm diameter. Connection to the NB-IoT gateway is tool-free via an internal spring-type terminal that provides two RS485 data lines, a digital output (DO), and 9 VDC–30 VDC power. Inside, it also includes a nano-SIM slot and a micro-USB port for direct configuration and local firmware updates. OTA updates via ThingsMaster can be installed over the network.
The SCB111-485-NB-DC employs a rugged design rated IP68 against water and dust ingress. With exceptional thermal tolerance and an operating range from –40 °C to +70 °C, this NB-IoT gateway is ideal for outdoor use. Typical applications include M2M communication and Modbus systems in industry, technical monitoring, and automation of processes or buildings.
