LR140-EU868
Modbus Analog Input Converter offers wireless Modbus RTU, up to 6 km LPWAN, data encryption, slave/host mode
The LR140-EU868 is a Modbus analog input converter that enables wireless signal transmission over long distances of several kilometers, acting as a gateway for integrating multiple analog inputs, including Modbus RTU devices, into extensive IT infrastructures without fixed or stable power supply.
To ensure secure integration into existing networks, the LR140-EU868 uses Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology and applies the LoRaWAN standard. With a low transmission power of 22 dBm, the coverage—depending on local conditions such as buildings or terrain—ranges between two and six kilometers but can reach up to several dozen kilometers under favorable circumstances. Data is transmitted in bundled fixed intervals, which limits the use of the LR140-EU868 in time-critical applications and real-time environments.
As a converter, the LR140-EU868 supports remotely configurable Modbus RTU and enables data transmission to another LoRaWAN gateway as a retransmitter or for connectivity with WAN and LAN networks. Communication is secured via AES 128 data encryption with a configurable key, ensuring eavesdrop-proof connections and high data integrity. For broad coverage or dense sensor deployments and other Modbus devices, a single LR140-EU868 can read 20 register entries from RTU clients according to a defined schedule. The COM RS485 serial interface supports both LM-100 slave and LC-100 host mode, with bandwidths of up to 15,200 bits per second.
Key advantages of the LR140-EU868 include not only high energy efficiency and long range but also secure communication through encryption and a user-friendly design. Configuration is carried out clearly via intuitive Microsoft Windows software and transferred via a micro-USB port. Of course, the LR140-EU868 features a rugged design that supports a wide operating temperature range from -40° Celsius to +75° Celsius. With a long MTBF of over 20,000 hours, the LR140-EU868 is suitable for a variety of requirements in new production and administrative procedures or in technical monitoring, such as environmental factors and conditions, demanding a stable and fail-safe system.
