Why 10GbE Matters at the Edge

ICOP EBOX series 10GbE connectivity

In modern computing, the bottleneck is increasingly the ability to move data rather than process it. By integrating 10GbE, the EBOX series raises network throughput to 10 Gbps, enabling seamless handling of high-volume data streams without the constraints of traditional Gigabit links. Beyond raw bandwidth, 10GbE introduces lower latency and improved determinism — both critical for applications where timing is paramount, such as edge AI inference, multi-camera vision systems, and high-frequency data acquisition.

A single 10GbE link can also replace multiple aggregated Gigabit connections, reducing network port density, switch complexity, and cabling overhead. The result is a cleaner, more efficient architecture that lowers total cost of ownership while improving system reliability — a meaningful advantage in space-constrained industrial cabinets and edge deployments.

EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 — Tiger Lake Edge AI Box PC with 10GbE and Quad Display

Intel® Core™ i5-1135G7 (Tiger Lake) DDR4 3200 Dual-Channel, up to 64 GB 10GbE + up to 3× 2.5GbE 4 Independent Displays M.2 PCIe Gen4 NVMe 4× COM (RS232/485/422) DC +12V~24V
ICOP EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 Box PC

ICOP EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 — Intel® Tiger Lake Core™ i5-1135G7 Edge AI Box PC with 10GbE

The EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 is a fanless embedded Box PC built around the Intel® Tiger Lake Core™ i5-1135G7 processor, with two DDR4 3200 MHz dual-channel SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 64 GB of memory. Alongside its new 10GbE port, it offers up to three 2.5GbE LAN ports, giving system integrators ample high-speed networking for multi-camera vision pipelines, sensor fusion, and real-time analytics at the edge. The Iris® Xe integrated graphics of the Tiger Lake platform also provide useful GPU acceleration for lightweight AI inference workloads without requiring a discrete accelerator.

Display flexibility is a defining strength of this platform. With two HDMI outputs, two DisplayPort outputs, and one USB Type-C DisplayPort, the EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 drives up to four independent displays simultaneously — well suited to control rooms, multi-screen HMI stations, digital signage walls, and visual inspection consoles where operators need to monitor several feeds at once.

For storage and expansion, the system provides an M.2 M-Key slot (2242/2280) with PCIe Gen4 support for high-speed NVMe SSDs, plus an M.2 E-Key slot (2230) with USB 2.0/PCIe interface and CNVi support for WLAN/Bluetooth modules. SATA III is available for additional storage, and the platform includes a GPIO header for industrial I/O integration. Four COM ports (two configurable as RS232/485/422 and two as RS232) handle legacy serial device connectivity common in industrial automation.

The EBOX-TGL-35G7-L3 accepts a wide DC input from +12V to +24V with an optional lockable DC jack for vibration-prone installations, making it a practical choice for machine control, edge AI inference, and high-frequency data acquisition environments where stable, predictable performance under sustained load is essential.

EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 — 13th Gen Core Edge AI Box PC with DDR5, 10GbE and LTE Expansion

Intel® 13th Gen Core™ i5-1335U DDR5 4800 Dual-Channel, up to 64 GB 10GbE + up to 3× 2.5GbE 4 Independent 4K HDR Displays M.2 B-Key LTE + Nano SIM 4× COM (RS232/485/422) DC +12V~36V
ICOP EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 Box PC

ICOP EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 — Intel® 13th Gen Core™ i5-1335U Edge AI Box PC with 10GbE and DDR5

The EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 steps up to the Intel® 13th Gen Core™ i5-1335U processor — a 10-core (2P + 8E) hybrid design — paired with two DDR5 4800 MHz dual-channel SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of memory. The faster DDR5 memory subsystem and the higher core count make this platform the stronger choice for high-throughput AI inference, virtualization workloads, and modern storage architectures such as NVMe over TCP, where the 10GbE link and memory bandwidth work together to keep data pipelines saturated.

Like its Tiger Lake sibling, the EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 supports up to three 2.5GbE LAN ports alongside its 10GbE interface, and drives up to four independent displays through two HDMI, two DisplayPort, and one Type-C DisplayPort output. On this model, all four displays support 4K HDR — a capability that matters in media and entertainment workflows involving 4K/8K video editing and transfer, as well as high-resolution medical and scientific imaging applications.

The standout expansion feature of this platform is its built-in wireless WAN capability. In addition to an M.2 E-Key 2230 slot for WLAN/Bluetooth, the EBOX-RTL-1335U-L3 provides an M.2 B-Key / B+M-Key slot for LTE cellular modems or additional storage, with an onboard Nano SIM socket. This makes it well suited to remote and distributed deployments — outdoor edge sites, mobile platforms, and field installations — where wired backhaul is unavailable and cellular connectivity is the primary uplink.

The platform offers the same industrial I/O complement as the TGL model — SATA III, GPIO, and four COM ports (two RS232/485/422 and two RS232) — but extends the DC input range to +12V~36V, accommodating the higher-voltage power rails common in transportation, energy, and heavy industrial environments. An optional lockable DC jack secures the power connection against vibration.
