Axiomtek has introduced a new addition to their lineup of ultra-compact embedded computers — the eBOX100B. This model is a development of the eBOX100 series, which already includes the eBOX100A. The new system retains the series’ hallmark features — fanless design and compact dimensions (155 x 110 x 60 mm) — but is aimed at different applications that demand maximum reliability and extensive peripheral connectivity.
Key Features of the eBOX100B
The eBOX100B is designed for operation in harsh environments, with a focus on stability and a rich set of interfaces.
- Reliability at its core: The system is built on a quad-core Intel N150 (Twin Lake) processor. A key feature is the 8 GB LPDDR5 onboard memory, which optionally can be expanded to 16 GB. This design increases resistance to vibration and shock (up to 50G).
- Harsh conditions: The device supports a wide operating temperature range, from -40°C to +70°C, making it suitable for unheated indoor spaces and outdoor use.
- Extensive I/O: Equipment connectivity is provided via 4 serial RS-232/422/485 ports with auto-flow control, an 8-channel digital I/O (DIO), and 6 USB ports.
- Power supply: Supports 9–36 VDC input, including ignition control functionality for in-vehicle applications.
What’s the real difference compared to the eBOX100A?
Now that the series includes two visually similar models with vehicle power support (Ignition Control), the choice depends on the engineer’s specific requirements:
Choose eBOX100B if:
- The system will experience strong vibrations (soldered memory is more reliable).
- You need to connect many sensors or legacy equipment (4 COM ports and DIO are required).
- Cabinet temperatures may reach +70°C.
Choose eBOX100A if:
- High computing power is required (Core i3-N305 option available).
- Flexible memory capacity is needed (SO-DIMM modules can be changed).
- Network connectivity is important (version with 4 LAN ports available).
- Marine certification IEC 60945 is required.

In summary, the Axiomtek eBOX100B does not replace the eBOX100A but complements it. While the eBOX100A is a powerful gateway and marine computer, the eBOX100B is a “workhorse” built for harsh operating conditions, where even a single memory module loosening due to vibration is unacceptable.
