Axiomtek’s P115-ADL-TRA: a high-performance panel workstation

12 October 2023 Product News

The segment of panel computers with active cooling is not very popular in the industrial sector. This is primarily due to their main feature, namely the presence of a CPU cooler. This creates certain restrictions in the process of installing this type of equipment, and in addition, for some conditions, the noise generated by the cooler can also affect it, since for the sake of safety and fault tolerance of the equipment, the cooler always spins at full speed. But it is worth highlighting the other side of this issue. Industrial panel stations with active cooling have three significant advantages over fanless models:

  • Support for desktop CPUs with a TDP no higher than 65W, compared to fanless solutions whose thermal conductivity limit of the processors used is no more than 35W
  • Availability of a PCIe expansion slot for installing an additional card, the dimensions of which should not exceed the dimensions of the panel computer case itself
  • A built-in power supply with AC 220V connector

These key advantages can often tip the scales towards using a panel computer with active cooling.

Axiomtek has announce the release of a new product in its line of high-performance panel systems. The new model was named P115-ADL-TRA and is based on powerful 12th generation Intel Core i Alder Lake processors. The model has a classic industrial design. The chassis is completely made of aluminum. Screen diagonal is 15 inches. The touch screen type is resistive, i.e. glass panel combined with a flexible plastic membrane. This is one of the most common and affordable types of touchscreen in the industrial sector. The front panel meets the IP65 dust and moisture protection standard. In addition, the front panel has LED indicators for display and storage operation, as well as buttons for adjusting brightness and turning the screen on/off.

The main hardware specs of P115-ADL-TRA are:

  • LGA1170 socket for a 12th generation Intel Core i7/i5/i3/Pentium processor with TDP no more than 65W (processor cooler included);
  • H610 chipset
  • 2x slots for installing 260-pin DDR4-3200/2666/2400 MHz SO-DIMM RAM, max. volume 64GB
  • 1x 2.5” bay for HDD/SSD

The I/O interface panel is quite standard for this type of equipment and has a complete list of the most widely used connection ports:

A distinctive feature of the new PanelPC is the presence of a TPM 2.0 module (trusted platform module for data encryption and protection against hacking) and a full PCIe x16 expansion slot. The TPM 2.0 module is required for the installation and operation of the Windows 11 operating system. Support for installing an external card in the PCIe x16 slot is limited only by the dimensions of the new product’s case; accordingly, it is recommended to check the compatibility of the additional card with the manufacturer’s engineers.

The dimensions of P115-ADL-TRA (HxWxD) are 310.3 x 378.3 x 88.8 mm. Weight (net/gross) is 6.3 kg/8.6 kg. Mounting options include panel mounting (kit included) and VESA 100 (any suitable bracket can be used). Operating temperature is 0°C to +50°C.

The new panel computer P115-ADL-TRA combines the most current and modern computing functions, even if not in such a popular equipment segment. Despite this, having the obvious advantages described above, the new product can be used in industrial environments where the use of fanless solutions is not effective and is not mandatory.
