IP65 class protection and Alder Lake architecture: a closer look at the Winmate’s new F65EAC-IAD32 rugged computer

24 March 2026 Product News

The rugged computing market is undergoing an interesting transformation: while full IP65 waterproofing was previously most often associated with low-power CPU, today's market demands high performance. The answer to this demand is the release of the new F65EAC-IAD32 from Winmate: this embedded computer combines the waterproofing of an industrial computer with the computing power of a full-fledged workstation based on a 12th-generation Intel Core processor.

This model is designed specifically for scenarios where standard industrial PCs fail due to exposure to water, dust, or strong vibrations: from food production facilities with regular sanitization to navigation systems in special vehicles.

Computing architecture

F65EAC-IAD32 is based on the Intel Core i5-1235U (Alder Lake generation), which represents a crucial step for fanless, sealed systems. The processor architecture utilizes 10 cores (two high-performance P-cores and eight energy-efficient E-cores), allowing the system to flexibly allocate resources: background telemetry collection tasks are handled by the energy-efficient cores, while powerful P-cores with frequencies up to 4.4 GHz are activated when running demanding applications.

The memory subsystem has also undergone significant changes. Unlike most competitors, which use DDR4, Winmate engineers equipped the new model with a SO-DIMM slot supporting the DDR5-4800 MHz standard. This provides a significant increase in bandwidth, necessary for processing streaming video or massive sensor data in real time. The maximum RAM capacity is 32 GB.

Design: Full IP65 and passive cooling

The system is housed in an aluminum chassis that effectively functions as an external heatsink.

The key design feature of the new model is its full IP65 protection rating. This means that not only the front panel, but the entire device body is completely impermeable to dust and water jets from any direction. To ensure a watertight seal, all interface ports are routed through specialized M12 threaded connectors or protected by sealed covers.

Communications: focus on the M12 standard

For connecting peripherals in conditions of vibration and humidity, regular USB or RJ-45 connectors are not suitable. In the F65EAC-IAD32 model a professional approach to organizing input-output is used:

  • Network interfaces: Gigabit LAN port implemented via a 12-pin M12 A-coded connector.
  • USB ports: The system offers a hybrid solution. One USB Type-A port is covered with a special sealed threaded cover (for quick connection of flash drives during maintenance), and two additional USB 2.0 ports are routed via a single, secure M12 connector.
  • Serial communication: The RS-232/422/485 port is also implemented in M12 format.
  • Video output: A waterproof HDMI connector is provided for display connectivity.

Storage and expansion

For data storage, the M.2 interface (M-key 2280) supports high-speed NVMe SSDs up to 4 TB (optional). The standard configuration includes a 256 GB SSD.

For wireless data transfer, an M.2 expansion slot (E-key 2230) is provided for installing a Wi-Fi module. The antenna outputs are also sealed.

Power and operation conditions

The embedded computer features an isolated power input that supports a wide voltage range from 9 to 36 VDC. Power is supplied via an M12 connector.

The device is designed to operate in a temperature range of -10°C to +45°C.

Winmate’s new F65EAC-IAD32 is a balanced solution for dirty and humid production environments that require desktop-class performance. The combination of modern 12th-generation Intel architecture, fast DDR5 memory, and uncompromising IP65 protection makes it ideal for use in the food industry, chemical plants, and in vehicle navigation systems.
