ICP DAS introduced a new module called ECAT-2517, which allows you to divide the EtherCAT bus into 7 parts. Switching from daisy chain to star topology makes cabling easier and more convenient to connect new EtherCAT modules.
In addition, dividing the bus into several parts improves the availability of the entire EtherCAT network. If one of the modules fails, the rest of the modules in the network continue to work.
The ECAT-2517 module is specially designed to work in an EtherCAT network, so it cannot be used as a normal Ethernet switch.
The following models are available in the EtherCAT slave junction module range:
Model name | Number of bus legs |
---|---|
ECAT-2513 | 3 |
ECAT-2515 | 5 |
ECAT-2517 | 7 |
