Protocol gateways

Most gateways provide flexible TCP connection settings to access several Modbus RTU devices connected to different serial ports of a gateway.

There are three different methods based on the routing mechanism:

1. Connecting a serial port to a unique TCP port
2. Connecting a serial port to a unique IP address
3. Using a routing table

First of all, you need to determine which Modbus driver on the SCADA host you want to use.

There are four options possible:

1. SCADA host with Modbus TCP driver
2. SCADA host with Modbus RTU driver - with a built-in serial port
3. SCADA host with Modbus RTU driver - without a built-in serial port
4. SCADA host with the «Ethernet Encapsulation» driver

Yes, MGate MB3100/MB3200 series supports the connection of up to 16 TCP-master/client or 32 TCP-slave/server devices.

Multiport MGate MB3660 supports the connection of up to 256 TCP-master/client or 128 TCP-slave/server devices.

If it is required that MGate must be accessible from a public IP address while being behind NAT/Firewall, it is necessary to configure port forwarding on a router. Most routers support this function.

The tables list the most common ports used to perform various functions on MGate gateways.

The minimum polling interval for MGate MB3660 in Agent mode is 10ms.
