Winmate has introduced a new rugged notebook in their L140 series - L140AD-4L.
But first, let's figure out what a rugged laptop or a rugged notebook is and what it's all about.
A rugged notebook is a device specially designed to work in harsh operating conditions, so that a field employee or worker does not have to shake with fear because of water or dust getting on it, which gives complete concentration and immersion in the work process.
Rugged laptops are not as popular as gaming or industrial models, but they are indispensable for specialists of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the military, industrial and space specialists.
The main differences between a rugged model and an industrial one are a reinforced case design, unusual design, closed connectors and a higher cost.
The main feature of a rugged laptop is the presence of special international protection standards:
- IP certificate - protection from dust and water
- Mil-STD 810H certificate - protection from shocks, vibrations, storage and operation at low and high temperatures
- Mil-STD 461G certificate - protection from electromagnetic radiation
The chassis of the L140AD-4L notebook of L140 series is made of dual-injected magnesium alloy for drop protection, and is fully IP65 rated and Mil-STD 810H certified.
L140AD-4L is based on a Alder Lake family CPU of the 12th generation, Intel Core i5-1235U with a clock frequency of up to 4.4 GHz. To achieve maximum performance, Winmate designed the notebook with synchronous dynamic random access memory and double data rate (DDR5 SDRAM). The volume is 8 GB in the basic configuration and up to 32 GB optionally.
L140AD-4L comes with a 14-inch LED display with a screen resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD) and a brightness of 300 nits, which, together with the patented Optical Bonding technology and anti-glare coating, improves the convenience of work in bright sunlight.
For storage, 256 GB M.2 NVMe SSD is offered in the standard configuration and up to 2 TB optionally. It is possible to expand the second drive (optional).
The cooling system uses a built-in cooler fan.
Special attention should be paid to the power supply system. All Winmate notebooks have basic support for the "hot swap" battery swap function. The laptop comes with with two 3220 mAh batteries. Operating time with a standard battery is up to 11 hours.
L140AD-4L has an impressive number of different input/output ports and other additional modules:
