The new FM14 Vehicle PCs from Winmate: better monitoring and perfomance

08 March 2023 Product News
Whether for assistance systems, navigation, infotainment for passengers, fleet management in logistics, or the operation of connected devices such as tractors or forklifts - vehicle mount computers are proving to be an indispensable aid for controlling vehicles in the modern world. Low resolution and a display that is too small and difficult to read are avoidable hurdles that often cost a lot of working time.

With the FM14E-V, FM14AD-V and FM14Q-V rugged vehicle PCs, three optimized models with 14'' touchscreens and full HD have been available since January 2023, which can be used universally in new and old vehicles in a variety of ways.

Better overview due to 14'' display with 1080p resolution

In many vehicles, cameras and sensors make it easier to maneuver in tight spaces, coordinate logistics or monitor work steps in dump trucks, excavators, forklifts or trucks. However, the technology used to date, including integrated panel PCs, rarely proves sufficient to reproduce images accurately and in detail or to realize simple, safe and clear interaction with networked machines. With their 14'' display including a projected capacitive touchscreen, Vehicle Mount PCs such as the FM14E-V, FM14AD-V and FM14Q-V create ideal conditions for capturing even large viewing angles and operating branched menus comfortably.

Windows, Linux and Android - a suitable Vehicle PC for every operating system

The FM14 Vehicle Mount Embedded PC series includes several models, some of which differ significantly in their hardware to meet the requirements of different operating systems. For example, the FM14Q-V uses a Snapdragon 660 CPU from Qualcomm with ARM architecture and a 3 GB RAM and Android OS. The FM14E-V, on the other hand, has an Intel Atom x6425E Quad Core CPU and the FM14AD-V, as the most powerful variant, relies on an Intel Core i5-1235U processor with a total of ten cores, for a maximum of twelve parallel threads with clock frequencies of up to 4.40 GHz. Both embedded PCs use Microsoft Windows 10 IoT Enterprise as the operating system in the basic configuration; Linux distributions and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) can be installed as options.

Numerous I/O interfaces in a rugged design

The native interfaces of all models include USB 3.0 with OTG and USB 2.0, two serial COM ports RS232/422/485 as well as a 4 bit GPIO and optionally CAN Bus 2.0 for communication with the vehicle electronics. As wireless connections, the 14'' Vehicle Mount Embedded PC supports WLAN, Bluetooth and communication via 4G LTE WWAN as well as positioning via GPS or GLONASS as standard. The wide temperature range from -30° Celsius to +60° Celsius also allows use in unprotected areas such as road vehicles, unheated storage areas or construction machinery and agricultural vehicles.
