PLANET Technology, a global leader in IP-based networking products, has announced the expansion of its Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) portfolio with the launch of the ITS-5216 and ITS-6326 series. These industrial-grade managed switches are specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of railway, rolling stock, and harsh industrial environments, offering vibration-proof M12 connectivity and advanced Layer 2/Layer 3 management features.

Reliable Connectivity for Rolling Stock: The ITS-5216 Series

Designed for transportation applications requiring compact yet powerful networking, the ITS-5216-8P4T-WV and ITS-5216-8P2TB-WV provide a robust Layer 2+ managed solution. Both models feature IP50-rated metal enclosures and M12 X-coded connectors, ensuring stable Ethernet operation under high shock and vibration—a critical requirement for on-train installations.

  • ITS-5216-8P4T-WV: Equipped with 8-port Gigabit PoE+ and 4-port Gigabit M12 interfaces.
  • ITS-5216-8P2TB-WV: Features 8-port Gigabit PoE+ and 2-port Gigabit M12 with a Hardware Bypass function. This ensures the network link remains active even during power failure, preventing a single device outage from disrupting the entire daisy-chained network.

The series supports a wide-range dual power input (24V~110V DC) and can operate in extreme temperatures from -40 to 70°C.


Advanced Layer 3 Routing for Railway Infrastructure: The ITS-6326 Series

For larger-scale deployments and complex network architectures, the ITS-6326 series offers Layer 3 dynamic routing (OSPFv2) and full compliance with international railway standards including EN50155, EN45545-2, and IEC 61373.

The ITS-6326 series comes in multiple configurations to suit different power and port requirements:

The "LV" models support a 24-54V DC input range, while the "WV" models cater to a wider 24-110V DC input, making them adaptable to various locomotive and industrial power systems.
