The I-7561U and the similar products I-7560U, I-7563U are the new generation of ICPDAS USB to COM converters, which were released instead I-7561, I-7560, I-7563 devices respectively. The main difference is that I-7561U driver, for instance, can be installed on Windows 8.0/8.1 OS, whereas I-7561 supports older operating systems only. Thus, the I-7561U USB to RS-232/RS-485/RS-422 converter is a smart and convenient accessory that allows serial devices to be connected to a USB-equipped Windows or Linux host computer.
The I-7561U provides a bridge connection that includes a standard DB 9-pin male serial port connector at one end and a standard Type-A USB plug connector at the other. This provides a convenient method of adding serial connections to the PC without necessity of additional serial card installment.
The I-7561U USB-to-Serial adapter is fully compliant with the USB specifications and therefore supports advanced power management, such as suspend and resume operations as well as remote wakeup. By connecting the I-7561U module to a PC, a single RS-232 or RS-422/485 port can be accessed. The adapter contains a "Self-Tuner" chip that automatically tunes the baud rate and data format to the RS-485 network. Moreover, the device is powered from the USB bus, meaning that an additional power adaptor is not required.

The I-7561U USB to Serial converter is ideal for connecting modems, cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, card readers and other serial devices to the PC. It provides serial connections up to 1 Mbps of data transfer rate with 2500 VDC Isolation Protection and ESD Protection. It is also made from fire-retardant materials (UL94-V0 Level) and has -25 °C to +75 °C operating temperature range.
