Industrial networks today place ever-higher demands on speed, security and reliability. In response to these challenges, Kyland announces an updated version of its legendary managed switch — SICOM3024P. This series of Ethernet switches has become even more productive and easy to use, while maintaining a compact size and compatibility with previous versions. Kyland decided to modify this popular line taking into account the current and future needs of industrial enterprises. It has improved both hardware characteristics and software functionality, as well as enhanced cybersecurity measures..

Key hardware improvements

SICOM3024P of the new generation has an expanded set of full-gigabit ports, increased performance and support for industrial protocols, making it an ideal solution for digitalizing production processes.

Advanced software features

The switch software has also been significantly redesigned, including:

  • Support for redundancy and synchronization protocols.
  • Improved VLAN management.
  • Integration with international cybersecurity systems.

Full Gigabit network interfaces

The switch now offers an expanded set of Gigabit ports (all 24 ports will support Gigabit transfer speed), providing high throughput and stable data transfer, which is especially important for industrial applications under increased loads. And the SFP ports now support both Gigabit modules and Fast Ethernet.

Compact and robust chassis

Despite the expanded specifications, the design of the device has remained the same - a compact and impact-resistant chassis that allows you to easily replace the old model with a new device without rebuilding the installation infrastructure.

Support for IEEE 1588 PTP, MRP, ERPS, QinQ protocols

The new SICOM3024P supports all key modern industrial networking standards, making it a flexible and reliable element of the digital infrastructure.

The device's functionality includes the following protocols:

  • PTP (IEEE 1588) — provides highly accurate synchronized time across the entire network. This is critical for automation systems, energy, transport and production lines, where equipment response times are measured in milliseconds.
  • MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) — a network connection redundancy protocol. Allows you to create a stable ring topology, in which the failure of one of the nodes will not lead to loss of communication. Switching time is less than 200 ms.
  • ERPS (Ethernet Ring Protection Switching) — an advanced Ethernet ring protection protocol that ensures rapid reconnection when a connection is lost. This is important for highly reliable networks.
  • QinQ (VLAN Stacking) — nested VLAN technology, which allows multiple levels of VLAN identifiers to be transmitted in a single frame. This provides flexibility in building complex network infrastructures and also makes it possible to isolate different services and departments within a single physical network.

Integration with industrial protocols: Modbus, Ethernet/IP, PROFINET

The new version of the switch supports key industrial protocols, ensuring compatibility with most existing automation systems.

Compliance with IEC 62443-4-2 SIL2 cybersecurity standard

Data security and resistance to cyber attacks are confirmed by the international requirements of IEC 62443-4-2 SIL2, making SICOM3024P a safe choice for mission-critical networks.

IEC 62443-4-2 SIL2 is a recognized international standard designed to protect industrial automation systems and critical infrastructures from external threats and internal vulnerabilities. It includes strict cybersecurity requirements, covering:

  • User and device authentication
  • Access control
  • Data integrity
  • Protection of confidential information
  • Event logging and monitoring
  • DoS (denial of service) attack resistance

The SIL2 (Safety Integrity Level 2) rating confirms that the switch is capable of effectively detecting, preventing and eliminating threats with a failure probability of less than 1 in 100 years, which is especially important for facilities:

  • energy,
  • oil and gas industry,
  • transport,
  • manufacturing,
  • critical urban infrastructure.

What does this mean for your business?

Implementing equipment certified to IEC 62443-4-2 SIL2 significantly reduces the risk of network attacks, protects intellectual property and ensures uninterrupted operation of production processes. The use of SICOM3024P complies with the best global practices in the field of cybersecurity and industrial automation.

Minimum loading time

The device boot time has been optimized to less than 40 seconds, significantly speeding up the process of putting the equipment into operation..

Nowadays, the speed of deployment and restart of network devices plays a critical role, especially in industrial and infrastructure projects, where equipment downtime can lead to financial losses and disruption of technological processes.

The new SICOM3024P provides:

  • Stable startup time of less than 40 seconds, even with complex settings and a large number of connected devices.
  • Instant recovery after power outage or reboot.
  • Reduced network maintenance and upgrade time.

Why is this important?
The faster a device returns to work after an update, maintenance or emergency shutdown, the higher the stability and efficiency of the entire infrastructure. Minimal boot time allows you to quickly restore communication between industrial controllers, servers and terminals, avoiding failures and production downtime..
