Axiomtek announced the release of a new ICO150 embedded computer. This fanless system, designed for DIN rail mounting, features an updated architecture based on the latest Intel Atom x7000RE series processors. The new product is positioned as a versatile solution for applications requiring a strict balance between performance, energy efficiency, and support for a wide range of communication interfaces.

Updated hardware platform

The ICO150's computing power is based on the Intel Atom x7433RE processor. This quad-core chip operates at 1.5 GHz while maintaining an extremely low thermal design power (TDP) of 9 W, which is critical for passively cooled systems.

The system supports one DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM memory module with a capacity of up to 16 GB.

Communication features

Despite its compact design, the ICO150 has an impressive set of interfaces for interaction with industrial equipment:

  • Network Stack: The device comes with two LAN ports based on the Intel I226-IT controller. Both ports support speeds up to 2.5 Gbps and TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking) technology, which is critical for real-time data synchronization. Port isolation up to 2 kV is also provided.
  • Serial Ports: Four COM ports (RS-232/422/485) with DB9 connectors are provided for communication with peripheral devices.
  • Digital Input/Output: An 8-bit programmable DIO interface allows direct communication with digital sensors and actuators.
  • Display: HDMI version 1.4b supports 4K resolution display..

Configurations: AC and AW

Axiomtek engineers have presented two platform modifications that differ in temperature conditions and chassis dimensions to optimize heat dissipation.

  1. ICO150-x7433-AC: The basic version is designed for standard operating conditions. The operating temperature range is from 0°C to +50°C. The housing width of this model is only 48 mm, saving space in the control cabinet. 
  2. ICO150-x7433-AW: A modification for harsh operating conditions. The temperature range has been extended from -40°C to +70°C. To ensure stable operation at extreme temperatures, the chassis size has been increased to 65 mm in width for improved heat dissipation.

Both models are made in a durable steel case with aluminum elements (IP30 protection rating).

Expansion and protection options

The new ICO150 uses an M.2 Key B+M 2242 slot with NVMe support for data storage. A half-size Mini-PCIe slot is also available for mSATA or Wi-Fi modules. A full-size Mini-PCIe slot and a SIM card slot are available for mobile connectivity (4G/LTE).

The device is powered over a wide range of 9 to 36 VDC via a 3-pin terminal block. System safety is ensured by built-in overvoltage protection (OVP), undervoltage protection (UVP), overcurrent protection (OCP), and reverse polarity protection (RPP).

The ICO150 controller is a complete solution for industrial automation applications requiring high I/O port density and reliable operation in unattended environments.
