Vehicle-mount displays (VMD) are rugged monitors integrated into vehicles (such as trucks, buses, trains and construction equipment) to present navigation, diagnostics or fleet data in real time. Nexcom’s VMD series are purpose-built for transportation: they offer automated brightness control and daylight-readable panels, ensuring information is legible even under strong sunlight. These displays are engineered for in-vehicle use, with high-brightness LCD backlights (for example, the 8″ VMD 2000 supports 800 cd/m²) and anti-glare coatings. Importantly, Nexcom units meet industrial ruggedness standards: many models are IP54 or IP65 sealed and designed to withstand shock, vibration and wide temperature swings. For instance, the larger 10.4″ VMDs reach 1200 cd/m² brightness and full IP65 ingress protection, so they stay visible in glare or adverse weather. MIL-STD-810H shock/vibration compliance and –30..60 °C operating range are typical, reflecting their suitability for harsh environments.
Each Nexcom VMD also includes features for vehicle integration. They often consolidate power, video and control signals via specialized cables (e.g. ultraONE+ or multi-conductor pigtails) for ease of installation. Multiple inputs (such as HDMI, VGA or composite video ports) allow connecting PCs and cameras. Wide-range 9–36 VDC power input and rugged touchscreens (projected-capacitive for the 10″ series, 4-wire resistive on some 8″ models) ensure compatibility with vehicle systems and even gloved operation. In summary, Nexcom’s vehicle displays combine high brightness and touch functionality with heavy-duty construction (IP54/IP65 seals, shock/vibration proofing and extended temperatures) to meet the demands of transportation and industrial mobile applications.
Vehicle Mount Display 10 inch
Nexcom’s 10-inch VMD series centers on 10.4″ XGA (1024×768) panels with projected-capacitive (PCAP) touchscreens. All models deliver ultra-high brightness (around 1200 cd/m²) and feature metal housings compliant with IP65 (dust/water tightness). They incorporate Nexcom’s ultraONE+ multi-IO cabling (10m range) to consolidate power, USB, video and control signals over a single cable. Adaptive brightness control and wide voltage support (9–36 VDC input) are standard. Common interfaces include HDMI or VGA video inputs, USB ports and multiple composite video (CVBS) connectors for camera feeds. This makes the 10.4″ series well-suited to large vehicles: for example, it can display rear-view camera video (four CVBS inputs on some models) while remaining clear in outdoor daylight conditions.

Vehicle Mount Display 8 inch
Nexcom’s 8-inch VMD series (8″ diagonal) uses 800×600 SVGA panels with touch functionality and compact form factors. These displays are built for visibility and durability: for example, the VMD 2000 offers 800 cd/m² backlight brightness and has an IP54-rated front bezel. Typical designs use a 4-wire resistive touch and support video inputs via LVDS or DVI-VGA interfaces. Wide-range DC power (9–36 V) is standard, and units are often housed in rugged ABS/metal enclosures. As with the larger series, the 8″ models survive vehicle vibration and weather – they typically meet industrial vibration/shock specs and continue operating across wide temperature ranges. These compact displays suit forklifts, small trucks or any mobile platform needing a dependable, high-contrast screen.
