ICP DAS presents the new PCIe-S112 communication board with two RS-232 ports and PCI Express bus support. The PCIe-S112 model has 2 RS-232 ports without isolation, while PCIe-S112i has 2 isolated RS-232 ports.
Each RS-232 port of the new communication boards PCIe-S112 and PCIe-S112i has a 256-byte FIFO buffer and allows data transfer at speeds up to 921600 bps. The hardware FIFO (First In First Out) is one of the ways to organize the transfer and control of data in relation to the priority and time of the request. FIFO is used to buffer flow control when data is transferred from hardware to software. When using FIFO, a small latency in the operating system will not result in data loss.
