New PCIe 4TE3 standard in Innodisk’s nanoSSD drive line

08 August 2024 Product News

Innodisk has launched a new series of nanoSSD drives in response to the growing demand for compact solutions in the field of AI technologies, robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, aerospace and other areas that require low power consumption, high speed characteristics and industrial reliability.

The new product line PCIe 4TE3 is designed in the M.2 1620 BGA form factor with a height of only 1.65 mm, which allows integrating new nanoSSDs into ultra-compact solutions.

In the 4TE3 Innodisk has adopted the PCI Express Gen 4 interface. The transition to PCIe Gen 4 doubles the data transfer rate compared to its predecessor, PCIe 3TE7, with a PCIe Gen 3 interface (Model discontinued in 2024). The update to the PCI-express specification has allowed devices to transfer information at much higher speeds. As a result, the read speed of the PCIe 4TE3 series increased to 3500 MB/s, and write speed to 3200 MB/s.

The storage volume of the 4TE3 reaches 1 TB, which in turn is a very good volume for an SSD of such a compact form factor.

Unlike conventional SSDs, the PCIe 4TE3 drives are firmly fixed to the motherboard using solder. Thanks to this solution, the connection becomes unbreakable, and the contact is reliable, which ensures an uninterrupted signal and stable operation under shock and vibration conditions.

All drives of the PCIe 4TE3 series come with a reliable security system, namely the AES 256 encryption algorithm and the TCG Opal security standard.

Thanks to the error detection and correction function (ECC) built into the drives of the PCIe 4TE3 series stability is significantly increased and the likelihood of a fatal system failure is minimized. Since the drives are industrial, they require an increased MTBF. With the help of Die Raid technology, Innodisk was able to allocate an additional 6 percent of space for error correction to the standard 7 percent, which increased the wear resistance of the device several times.

The main differences and advantages of the previous nanoSSD series from the new one are shown in the table below:
