New development kit based on SCM186 SMARC module

Axiomtek, a leading developer of industrial automation tools, has announced the imminent release of a new development kit based on SMARC modules, named SCM186-4R8EC-184EVK and based on NXP i.MX 8M Plus processor with quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 and NPU AI accelerator with up to 2.3 TOPS performance. New kit designed for industrial automation and IoT applications provides powerful computing capabilities and flexible expansion options.

The new SCM186-4R8EC-184EVK kit has 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and supports Yocto 3.3 and Linux Kernel 5.10.35 operating systems. The interfaces include two RS-232 and RS-232/RS-485, USB 2.0 and USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A ports, as well as two Gigabit Ethernet ports. The board provides HDMI, DisplayPort and LVDS connectors for connecting displays, as well as two slots for microSD memory cards, onboard 8 GB eMMC memory, and a SATA interface for connecting additional storage devices.


Additionally, the SCM186-4R8EC-184EVK comes with QSPI, CANBus, I2C, SPI and GPIO interfaces for connecting external devices and modules, as well as PCIe x4 and M.2 Key B 3052 expansion slots for installing 5G modules and other additional components. Also, the board has a SIM card slot and an optional TPM 2.0 module for enhanced security.


The SCM186-4R8EC-184EVK has compact dimensions (146 x 102 mm) and operates with a 12-24 V power supply. It is designed for use in temperatures from 0°C to +60°C and relative humidity from 10% to 95% non-condensing.
