ICP DAS has presented a new Modbus TCP gateway MDCL-705i with the function of data concentrator and data logger.
Modbus gateway with data concentrator function is the ideal product for IoT system integrators. The MDCL-705i allows you to simultaneously collect data from multiple Modbus RTU slaves via serial interfaces and then send this data to various control systems via Ethernet using the Modbus TCP protocol. This makes polling multiple Modbus RTU devices much more efficient.
MDCL-705i is designed to help create a cost-effective solution for collecting real-time data from meters, sensors and other devices. In addition to real-time data collection, the new MDCL-705i has a data logger function, making it one of the most cost-effective IIoT products.
Modbus data concentrator
The MDCL-705i gateway allows polling devices using the Modbus RTU protocol. The gateway is configured via a CSV file, which contains the required Modbus RTU commands. This CSV file is then uploaded to the gateway via the web interface. The MDCL-705i can specify up to 250 different polling commands. Its internal memory has 4 tables for DI, DO, AI and AO registers. Each table can store up to 9600 registers. The gateway supports up to 8 simultaneous Modbus TCP connections from SCADA systems and other devices.
Modbus data logger
The built-in data logging function allows the current data of the internal Modbus registers to be written to the microSD card, which can then be retrieved using HTTP. The log file is written in CSV file format, which can be viewed with Excel. All log files can be downloaded to a PC for further analysis and processing. Each entry is time stamped (based on the internal real time clock of the MDCL-705i). This allows user to log data offline for several months.
