Video conferencing has become very popular in the modern business world and innovative technologies have also found their way into the education sector. Whether in meeting rooms or classrooms, modern and smart whiteboards are gaining ground and offer interactive features that would be unthinkable with traditional conference calls or chalkboards.
Our partner GigaIPC now offers complete whiteboard solutions including large-format UHD touch displays on the basis of its Smart Display Modules (SDM), a successor to Open Pluggable Specification (OPS) for the use of standardized computer modules in compatible flat screens. These are available in 55", 65" and 75" sizes and are equipped with SDMs that either include an Intel i3 or i5 processor from the Kaby Lake generation, or are based on a less expensive Celeron N4000.
Thanks to a contrast ratio of 1200:1, a brightness of 430nits and a viewing angle of 175°, the displays offer good readability inside buildings. The infrared touch screen can detect up to 20 touch points, so that the whiteboard can be used by two people simultaneously.
The SDM is available with Intel Core i5-7300U, i3-7100U or Celeron N4000 processors and is pre-configured with 16GB DDR4 RAM (8GB for Celeron version) and 256GB M.2 SSD as standard. Externally accessible via the SDM are 1x DP, 1x LAN and 4x USB 3.0. 1x DP, 2x HDMI, 1x DVI-D, 1x VGA, 1x PC Audio in, 1x SPDIF out, 1x RS232, 1x USB 2.0 Type B (USB Touch Bypass) are additional interfaces at the back of the display. The systems can be expanded via two internal M.2 (1x M-Key, 1x E-key) slots.
With the help of the whiteboard, employees can all together enhance a brainstorming or a meeting by drawings, handwritten additions, insertion of diagrams, tables or pictures on the same screen at the same time, no matter whether they are in the same room or connected via network from anywhere else in the world. And teachers have a tool at their fingertips that allows them to supplement the curriculum with sources from the Internet or the cloud and offers entirely new ways for students to work together on solutions, including the integration of tablets or smartphones.
