Let's take a closer look at the use of technologies used in Innodisk’s modular cameras:
- USB 2.0/3.0 interface serves as a link between two systems - the camera and the PC. USB 2.0 is an older version and has significant technical limitations. USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 were released to overcome the limitations of the USB 2.0 interface and also improve reliability for high-speed, high-resolution cameras by requiring minimal additional hardware and supporting low bandwidth up to 480 Mb/s. The maximum throughput capacity is up to 5 Gb/s. This is 10 times faster than USB 2.0.
- MIPI CSI-2 standard is a high-performance and easy-to-use interface that provides a maximum throughput of 10 Gb/s. MIPI CSI-2 is much faster than USB 3.0 and has a robust protocol for processing video from 1080p to 8K.
- GMSL technology (Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link) is capable of transmitting data at high frame rates of 4K over a distance of up to 14 meters. This interface is great for projects where the length limitation of MIPI CSI 2 is not sufficient, but at the same time a high-strength, low-power cable is required.
In conclusion, Innodisk’s new modular cameras offer a wide range of features such as global shutter, HDR, low light and high speed shooting, and are equipped with industrial components and provide up to 1.4 TOPS of processing power. This allows them to be used in applications that require high-performance image processing, video, artificial intelligence and obtain high-quality images even in difficult lighting conditions.
Innodisk cameras have a high degree of protection against electrical interference, which ensures stable operation under electromagnetic influences. They also support PoE function, which simplifies the process of installing and connecting cameras. In addition, the cameras have a high degree of protection from external influences, including humidity, dust and vibration. This makes them effective for use in industrial and outdoor environments.
