ICP DAS has developed a new protocol gateway IEC850-211-S, which allows an MMS IEC-61850 client to access the Modbus TCP network as a Modbus TCP client.
Modbus TCP is often used in industrial automation to connect Ethernet devices such as PLCs, I/O modules, and gateways to other simple buses or networks.
IEC 61850 is an international standard that defines communication protocols for devices in electrical substations. This standard allows for the unification of requirements and interoperability between IEDs from different manufacturers. The IEC 61850 standard supports TCP/IP or substation LAN network using high speed Ethernet.
IEC850-211-S gateway supports logical node GGIO and data objects Ind, Intin, SPCSO, ISCSO. Also, this gateway supports the function of unbuffered reporting for communication with the client. You can configure the gateway using a special utility.
IEC850-211-S features:
- Allows reading and writing Modbus registers via IEC-61850 commands
- Supports GGIO logical node and Ind, IntIn, SPCSO, ISCSO data objects
- Supports Modbus function codes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
- Allows to connect up to 32 Modbus TCP servers
- Allows connection of up to 5 IEC-61850 clients
- Supports up to 9600 Modbus registers
