In October, 2014, MOXA released the world’s first computer with support of PRP and HSR protocols. 5 years later, in October, 2019, its upd ated version - DA-820C - is released.
Description
A series of high-efficiency DA-820C servers is designed specially for electrical substation application. On the station level, it can be used as Power SCADA servers. The major feature of this series is the support of network redundancy in accordance with PRP/HSR technology using DA-PRP-HSR board. A fanless design and unique heat removal system allow server rack mounting together with other equipment with no fear of overheating.Hardware specification and interfaces

Industrial reliability asserted by international certificates:
The server is certified according to IEC 61850-3 level 4 and IEEE 1613 in the sphere of environmental and electromagnetic exposure. By comparison, a regular industrial computer conforms to level 2 only.
Testing of DA series under IEC 61850-3 EMC Level 4.
DA-820C server is certified as per IEC 60255 standard that defines general requirements to testing relays and protection equipment at digital substations. This standard is applied worldwide and ensures that DA-820C will be a reliable device that seamlessly manages the intelligent electronic devices (IED) at a digital substation.
The compliance with EN 50121-4 standard conforms that DA-820C can work reliably as a part of the railway systems, such as SCADA railway stations, accident prevention management system, traction substation, signaling and security systems.
MTBF
MTBF value is 325 730 hours. By comparison, the previous DA-820 version had maximum MTBF of 288 116 hours.
Warranty
All computer of DA series are provided with a 3 year warranty period.
The patented cooling system design
High temperatures is amongst the major factors that reduce the lifetime of any electronic device. Hence, when designing a housing the heat analysis and simulation are conducted in a special program in order to enhance the cooling efficiency.
There is a fanless conductive cooling system, however, unlike in other industrial computers, in servers of DA series, a cooling system radiator is located on the housing’s side that prevents other rack devices from overheating.

Differences in comparison to the previous model
The novelty provides all the features of the previous model, however, it is equipped with modern Kaby Lake 7 gen processor, DDR4 memory, SATA 3, USB 3.0 interfaces and supports Windows 10 and Debian 9.

Proactive monitoring: Utility program + API + SNMP
For whom?
The utility program will be useful for the users and system administrators.
API functions can be used by system integrators for adding new functions to the existing software.
Moxa Proactive Monitoring is a compact low-consumption easy-to-use program that allows users to track a number of system parameters:
- CPU load
- CPU temperature
- CPU voltage
- Memory usage
- DRAM voltage
- Storage capacity
- SMART storage status
- Motherboard temperature
- Power supply unit temperature
- Network interfaces load
- BIOS version
- OS version
- Fan speed (if installed)
- Power supply unit status (for redundant units)
- UART interfaces usage
For each parameter, threshold values can be se t. If the value is exceeded, a notification will be sent via SNMP or a relay will be activated.
