Axiomtek has updated its digital signage media players assortment with the release of two new models. The new models, named DSP521 and DSP311, are designed for commercial use and built on the latest Intel hardware platforms. These new products offer varying form factors and performance, allowing them to be used for a wide range of applications, from managing single screens in tight spaces to creating high-resolution video walls.
DSP521
The DSP521 model is designed as a powerful solution capable of managing video walls or multiple screens simultaneously, the device's key feature is support for displaying images on up to four displays simultaneously and the use of DDR5 RAM.
Computing platform and memory
he media player is powered by 13th-generation Intel processors (Raptor Lake). Two configurations are available:
- DSP521-i5-1335UE – with Intel Core i5-1335UE CPU.
- DSP521-U300E – with Intel U300E CPU.
The system supports two DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM modules running at 5200 MHz. The maximum supported memory capacity is an impressive 96 GB.
Video and interfaces
Four HDMI 2.1 (TMDS) ports with a cable lock design are provided for connecting displays. The device supports 4K Ultra HD resolution.
I/O ports selection includes:
- USB: 2xUSB 3.2 ports and 2xUSB 2.0 ports.
- COM: 2xRS-232 ports.
- Audio: Line-out.
Networking and expansion
The network subsystem is based on Intel controllers and includes two ports with different throughput:
- 2.5 Gbps LAN port (Intel I226 controller).
- 1 Gbps LAN port (Intel I219 controller).
Expansion options are available via M.2 slots:
- M.2 Key E slot (2230 format) for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules (supports Wi-Fi 5, 6, and 6E).
- M.2 Key B slot (3042/3052 format) for 3G/4G/5G cellular modules (with a SIM card slot).
- Data storage is provided via an M.2 Key M slot (2280 format), which supports SATA and NVMe interfaces.

DSP311
The DSP311 model is a more compact entry-level solution built on a power-efficient platform. It is suitable for tasks requiring dual-screen operation in a limited space.
Computing platform and memory
The media player is powered by an Intel Processor N97. Unlike the older model, it uses DDR4 memory.
- Memory type: DDR4 SO-DIMM.
- Capacity: 8GB by default, 16GB maximum.
Video and interfaces
DSP311 comes with two HDMI 2.0 ports, which support resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz.
Periphery interfaces:
- USB: 4xUSB 3.2 ports.
- COM: 2xRS-232 ports (DB9).
- Audio: Mic-in, Speaker-out, ALC897 codec.
Networking and Storage
For wired network connections, two Gigabit LAN ports (10/100/1000M) based on Realtek 8111H controllers are used.
The storage and expansion subsystem differs from the DSP521 model in that it uses older, but more common, standards:
- Data storage: 1 Mini-PCIe slot with supports for mSATA.
- Wireless network: Full-size PCI Express Mini Card slot for Wi-Fi/BT/3G/4G modules (PCIe x1 and USB 2.0 signal).
Physical characteristics and power requirements:
DSP311 is much more compact than the top-of-the-line model:
- Dimensions: 137 x 127 x 41 mm.
- Power: +12V DC-in.
- Operational temperature: from 0°C to +45°C.
The introduction of the DSP521 and DSP311 models demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to meeting the needs of different segments of the digital advertising market. While the top-of-the-line DSP521 model is designed for resource-intensive scenarios requiring content output to four displays simultaneously, the DSP311 offers basic functionality in a palm-sized package.
