IPC2U's long-term partner DFI presents the AL05P series of new, extremely compact Pico-ITX boards that can be used as PoE powered devices. This means that there is no need for an additional power supply cable or even an external power supply, as this is done via the LAN cable.
With its dimensions of only 100mm x 72mm (Pico-ITX), the board is extremely compact and can therefore serve as the basis for many small devices. Despite its compactness, there are still a number of rather powerful, sometimes even quad-core CPUs to choose from. If you can accept a little less computing power and chose a two core CPU however, you can even get the board in a version with an extended operating temperature range from -20°C to 70°C.
External interfaces include a Mini-DP++ DisplayPort with a resolution of up to 4096 x 2160 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz, two USB3.1 and the PoE GbE LAN port, over which the communication and power supply are realized. The internal interfaces on the board include an RS-232/422/485, two further USB2.0 and an 8bit DIO connecor, which can be routed to the outside if required. With a full-size mimiPCIe socket, the system can be expanded with additional functions such as WLAN.
The boards of the AL05P series thus represent a compact, powerful and flexible basis for designing your own systems that take advantage of the possibilities that the Power over Ethernet technology offers us.
