The rugged and compact I-7520A converter allows data to be universally transcoded between RS232/422/485 formats, enabling industrial computers with a lack of Serial COM channels to expand as needed to take advantage of RS422 or RS485 for longer distance communication or maximum bandwidth.
In the design of a compact module, the I-7520A provides an active converter from RS232 to RS422 and RS485, allowing duplex communication between a control server or embedded PC and peripheral hardware. By using it, the limitations of the widely used RS232 standard can be overcome and instead all the advantages of a fully compatible RS232/422/485 interface can be used on the H2M or M2M server. The I-7520A converter supports all standardized bandwidths between 300bps and 115200bps with parallel full duplex communication in both directions. For operational reliability between the RS232/422/485 ports, it uses three-way electrical isolation at the RS232 input with a tolerance to 3000VDC peak voltage. With a wide temperature range of -25° Celsius to +75° Celsius, the converter operates in harsh environments including industrial production and protected outdoor locations. The use of the I-7520A enables the conversion of RS232 to RS422/485 in embedded systems to optimize automation under modern conditions such as for IoT or Industry 4.0.
