The IGS-1608SM-SE-E is a Gigabit switch with 16 copper RJ-45 10/100/1000M Ethernet ports and 8 SFP-based 1000M fiber ports that guarantees reliable Ethernet transmission. It has extended -40 to 75°C operating temperature range and redundant dual 18-60 VDC power inputs with reverse polarity and overload current protections.

This device provides a variety of network redundancy, such as u-Ring, u-Chain and sub-Ring topologies which can support ultimately 5 rings with the recovery time less than 10ms for a single point error occurs in the system.

The distinctive feature of this switch is a timing synchronization SyncE and IEEE 1588 PTP v2 support.

The IEEE 1588 PTP v2 protocol is very famous in power generation and increasingly applied in substation to synchronize MU, IED and others protection devices.

The IEEE 1588 technology is not only applicable for power generation but for automation, telecommunications, robotics and other industries, because it defines a Precision Time Protocol and time-sensitive components for precise clocks synchronization in distributed systems. Moreover, this protocol supports synchronization accuracy in the sub-microsecond range with minimal computing resources.

The IGS-1608SM-SE-E supports IEEE1588 PTP V2 for precise time synchronization to operate in Ordinary-Boundary, Peer to Peer Transparent Clock, End to End Transparent Clock, Master, Slave mode by each port.

The IGS-1608SM-SE-E has FCC Part 15 Subpart B Class A, CE EN55022 Class A EMI and EMS certification which confirm better protection against unexpected lightning strikes, ESD or surges. Besides that it has EN50121-4 Railway Traffic, EN61000-6-2 and EN61000-6-4 Heavy Industrial Environment certificates, shock, freefall and vibration IEC60068-2-27, IEC60068-2-32, IEC60068-2-6 certificates.
