Two new motherboards from Axiomtek


IPC2U company is happy to present you two new processor boards of ATX format from Axiomtek: IMB524 and IMB525.

The boards are based on chipsets of H310 (IMB524) and С246 (IMB525) system logics and support installation of 8th gen Intel Core processors. In addition to the chipset, these two boards differ in expansion slots configuration, amount of memory supported, amount of USB ports and SATA channels supported.

Let us consider each motherboard separately.

We start with IMB525, as it is of the greater class. As it was mentioned above, this board is based on Intel C246 server chipset and, as the developer company claims, it supports installation of Coffee lake processors. The maximum amount of memory supported is 64Gb of DDR4 DIMM with support of ECC. There are 4 288-pin slots for installation of RAM.

Based on a server chipset, the board supports more comprehensive communication functions. There are the following input/output ports on the back of the board:

  • 1 RS-232/422/485 port
  • 2 USB3.1 ports of gen2
  • 2 USB3.1 ports of gen1
  • 4 video interfaces: VGA, DVI-D,HDMI and DisplayPort
  • 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
  • Audio slots: MIC-in/Line-in/Line-out
  • PS/2 combo port - keyboard/mouse

Additionally, the following ports can be connected to the board using supplementary cables:

  • 4 RS-232 ports
  • 1 RS-232/422/485 port
  • 2 USB3.1 ports of gen1
  • 6 USB2.0 ports
  • 1 8-channel programmable digital input/output port

To enhance the communication functions, the following expansion slots are provided:

  • 1 x PCIe x16 slot
  • 2 x PCIe x4 slots
  • 4 x PCI slots

Like all other boards from Axiomtek, this board is provided with a watchdog timer.

To connect data storage devices, there are 6 SATA 3 ports with support of RAID 0/1/5/10. There is also an internal USB2.0 port for connection of a data storage device.

Let us consider the key features of IMB524 that make it different from IMB525.

The first and the greatest difference lies in the Intel H310 consumer chipset. The second difference is the support of up to 32Gb of system memory. There is a reduced amount of installation slots - only 2. Moreover, the amount and configuration of USB ports also differs. On the back of the board, you will find four USB3.1 gen1 ports, you can also additionally connect only four USB2.0 ports.

The signal configuration in the expansion slots differs a little as well:

  • On IMB525 board, the slots work in x4 mode
  • On IMB524 PCIe x4 slots work in x1 mode only

As there is a consumer chipset used, the board does not support Raid and is equipped with four SATA3 ports only.
