With the IPOE-173S from Planet, IPC2U offers its customers an industrial-grade PoE ++ (802.3bt) splitter that separates the Ethernet data supplied via a UTP cable and the voltage provided by an 802.3bt Type4 PSE (supply device). DIP switches can be used to select whether the voltage should be provided as 12VDC or 24VDC. The maximum available power is 70W. This makes it possible to supply non-PoE-compatible devices with increased power requirements via PoE ++.
Anyone who has already dealt with the topic of PoE will notice the advantages of this technology. By combining Ethernet data and power supply via the same cable, there is a significantly lower cabling effort and no new power supply sockets need to be installed, which is often not possible anyway. Until now, mostly small peripheral devices such as e.g. IP cameras were operated by PoE, but there is a great desire to connect more complex devices such as network components, embedded box PCs or panel PCs to the PoE network as well. Unfortunately, however, the number of available PoE-capable devices for these applications is still pretty small and those that are offered are low-performance, since only low power can be transmitted via conventional PoE.

This is where the IPOE-173S comes in. Connected to a high-performance PoE ++ network, it can physiically separate the Ethernet data and the power supply from each other again, so that not only PoE-capable devices, but actually all devices, that can operate at 12VDC or 24VDC, can be connected, as long as their power consumption does not exceed 70W. And that includes most network components, embedded PCs, panel PCs and much more.
And even if you do not have your own PoE ++ network, you can still use a suitable PoE ++ injector, such as the IPOE-171-95W to add the supply voltage to the LAN-cable at the sender-side in order to make it available for the appliance by using the splitter at the receiver-side.
The IPOE-173S supports passive 10/100 / 1000Mbps Ethernet with ranges of up to 100m and, thanks to its wide operating temperature range from -40 °C to 75 °C, it is also suitable for outdoor use in non-air-conditioned control cabinets.
