Unmanaged, Industrial grade, Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter

IMC-1000-PHE12-SC020 has one electrical LAN port and one fiber SC port on the front panel. The LAN port that utilizes shielded RJ-45 connectors supports 10/100/1000M, while the fiber port supports fixed speed 100/1000M. The LAN port supports PoE per IEEE802.3af (15.4W) or IEEE802.3at (30W) for connection to standard PoE Power Devices such as IP Cameras, Access Points, IP Phones, Digital Signage, etc. PoE eliminates the need to run separate power to these devices thereby simplifying deployment and reducing expenses.

The LAN port may also be connected to any non-PoE device for normal Ethernet transmission without damage to the non-PoE device or to this device. Configuration settings are accomplished via a 8‐pole DIP switch.

TWO useful features of IMC-1000-PHE12-SC020

One of the up-to-date converter troubleshooting features is Link Fault Pass Through (LFTP) function. If a link fails on one interface of the media converter, the media converter will force the link down on its link partner and then forward it to the next interface. So LFTP allows a link condition to be passed from fiber to twisted pair or from twisted pair to fiber onto the local end. This function can be useful for network administrators to find the down link more quickly.

Furthermore, IMC-1000-PHE12-SC020 has a Remote PD Reset function. When it’s enabled, the media converter will stop supplying power to the connected Power Device for 3 seconds if the fiber link is lost. This will force the PD device to power off and then power on. This procedure is explained in the picture below:

Housed in rugged DIN rail or wall mountable enclosures, these switches are designed for harsh environments, such as industrial networking and intelligent transportation systems, and are also suitable for many military and utility market applications. They meet the requirements of IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T and IEEE802.3z 1000Base-X Gigabit Ethernet standards and can transmit data up to 20km distance.
