A compact 1U Server with very power-saving and powerful performance

The Built-in CPU is the power- saving Intel Atom C2758 with 2.4GHz frequency. For this Intel series it is quite unusual that it is outfitted with 8 physical cores like in this model. 4 DDR3 SODIMM memory slots can adopt up to 32GB RAM. Every slot can be equipped with up to 8GB.
Untypical for Supermicro 1U servers is usage of 2x 3.5“ or alernatively 4x 2.5“HDDs. These ones can be addresses by SATAII or SATAIII interfaces. Graphic is provided by the integrated Aspeed AST2400 controller, which proceeds graphic output via KVM or VGA via LAN. For extension there is a PCI Express x8 slot onboard.

The SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 was designed for utilization in communications.

An increased amount of LAN Ports shows, that the SuperServer 5018A-FTN4 is designed primarly for utilization in networks. Further features necessary for this usage are 2x USB 2.0, 2x USB3.0, dedicated IPMI for external control and 4x Gbit LAN interfaces.
Power consumption is very low by power- saving hardware and energy-efficient power supply. Unlike other 1U Supermicro servers, maximal power supply is 200W. Primarly the servers are used for internet services such as webhosting or file sharing. Also you can find their benefits in local networks or for security tasks like gateway, proxy or as efficient and powerful firewall.
